The ring fence also consists of vertical sticks and diagonally lapped timbers like the Pinzgau fence. Its special feature is the fence rings which hold the two together.

When trees are in sap, spruce or larch twigs are chopped off for the fence rings. After cleaning the branches, they are carefully heated over a fire and then twisted into a ring while still hot.
